  • These pointers are based on The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg
  • Creating new habits
    • Familiarize with the formula : Cue > Routine > Reward
      • For example: phone buzzes > check phone > good feels at a ‘like’
      • Start with the cue
      • Create a routine
        • Set yourself up ahead of time, make it easier
      • Define a reward based on your reason
        • Make clear your reason for starting a new habit or dropping an old one
  • Breaking old habits
    • Keep the cue and the reward the same, but change the routine
  • Keystone habits
    • These have a domino effect on other habits
    • For example: waking up earlier to get more done, enjoy downtime, or have a yummy breakfast
    • These allow us to build up momentum and confidence

Lavendaire

(10 minutes)

Aileen outlines important habits to get a handle on your life and steer it towards a more fulfilling and joyful one.

I personally believe in each of these five habits – they can truly create change!

We are each able to setup a life for ourselves that we love 🙂

  1. Shifting from  “I already know this!” to “what can I learn from this?”
  2. Journaling
  3. Konmari – minimalist mindset
  4. Getting Things Done – do the most important things first
  5. Gratitude

Skills to Master to Be More Productive

Tim Ferriss

(6 minutes)

Tim Ferriss is absolutely full of helpful knowledge! This video doesn’t have any habits that I personally picked up (though silent meditation is a fav. habit of mine) but it offers a good preview at his perspective – perhaps he resonates with your style!

  • [00:19] Tip #1 : Morning Meditation
    • Ferriss only was able to adhere once he tried Transcendental Meditation (mantra based method).
    • Ferriss isn’t fully behind the method but it worked because he met with an instructor regularly and needed to report progress.
    • Headspace is also a good idea (*Bianca Note: I like this app for what it was).
    • Running can also be meditative if done intentionally.
    • Gratefulness is also an important component.
  • [03:42] Tip #2 : Getting Better at Asking Questions
    • Some questions are better than others.
    • “Why can’t you achieve your ten year goals in the next six months?” – Peter Thiel
      • It’s a great thought experiment.
