5 Steps to Stop Procrastinating, Focus & Be Productive

Personally, I do not follow anything specifically from this video though I feel it could be helpful for others. I appreciate all the carefully researched information on procrastination and the video’s perspective.

    • Pomodoro
    • Declutter

    • Don’t procrastinate
  • [00:45] 2 Push-ups + 1 Shower
    • (1) What is happening when you’re stuck in a bad habit
      • Identify what is craving your distraction
    • (2) Chaining behaviors
      • Make the chained behavior a small step
    • So, do 2 pushups each time you are distracted. If you’re messing around, you might as well work out. This also increased blood flood which increases focused and usually therefore willpower. It also keeps you on task if you don’t want to have to do pushups
  • [05:18] Shower
    • If you’re needing creativity instead of will power, take a shower
    • It could also be a distraction free walk or something similar
    • The warm shower does have the benefit of a dopamine boost which is linked to better creativity

    • Like pinball machine with focused mode having several tight bumpers
  • [07:18] Flow State
    • Steven Kotler describes the state as “An optimal state of consciousness where you feel totally absorbed in the task at hand and all aspects of performance mental and physical go through the roof”
    • High-stakes moments are easy entrances to the flow state
